I wanted to use a cotton blend yarn (as in the pattern), and ordered from an online shop that promised two day delivery. But due to COVID, the delivery was delayed. As I have a tight deadline I went out to my nearest yarn shop, and the yarn they had in the right colors that was closest to a match was a 100% cotton yarn. I find that it’s a bit tricky to get the right tension when knitting intarsia, since the cotton yarn isn’t as stretchy and bouncy as wool or blended yarns. Doing my best and hoping for the best!

Yarns used
Monkey: Catania in coffee brown and sand beige
Banana: Mira in yellow and Drops Baby Merino in vanilla
T-shirt: Katia Merino Baby in turquoise
Shorts: Viking Garn Bamboo in blue

I knitted the legs in the round, but started knitting back and forth from row 47 when they are joined together. (Haven’t mastered intarsia in the round yet…)

I’ve decided that I’m going to use pipe cleansers as well as stuffing, so that the monkey can bend his arms, legs and tail. So instead of cutting yarn and pulling the yarn tail through the last 9 stitches of the arm, I did a regular cast-off.

I will make the tail a bit longer than in the pattern.
